We are looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to own the last mile: getting Ailytics running inside our customers' infrastructure, and keeping it running.
This is a hands-on role spanning three areas. You will deploy our hardware and applications on client sites, configuring machines, connecting them to customer camera networks, and diagnosing connectivity problems in the field. You will get first-hand experience deploying and operating real AI applications in production. And you will work alongside our DevOps team maintaining the cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP and Azure that every deployment depends on.
You will also be the primary point of contact for deployments, which makes you the person our customers deal with directly, on site and afterwards. It is an unusually broad role for someone early in their career: you will touch networking, hardware, Linux, scripting, cloud infrastructure and production AI systems within your first year, and you will represent Ailytics while doing it.
What You Will Be Doing
- Deploy Ailytics into customer infrastructure, end to end. Install and configure our hardware, connect it to customer camera systems and networks, and bring the application live on site.
- Own the network layer in the field: IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, switches and PoE. You will diagnose and resolve connectivity issues in live environments, often under time pressure.
- Deploy and support our AI applications. You will get hands-on with how real computer vision workloads are configured, run, monitored and debugged in production, both at the edge and in the cloud.
- Work with the DevOps team on cloud infrastructure. Help provision and maintain resources across AWS, GCP and Azure, including connectivity, monitoring and incident response.
- Automate the repetitive. Write Python and shell scripts that make deployments faster, more consistent and less manual with every site you do.
- Be the primary point of contact for deployments. Represent Ailytics directly with customers on site, keep them informed through the process, and escalate cleanly when something needs the wider team.
- Feed the product back. Bring on-the-ground observations to our engineering and product teams, because you will see things nobody at a desk ever will.
- Document as you go. Build up the runbooks, deployment blueprints and troubleshooting guides that let the next deployment go faster than the last.
Our Ideal Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline — or equivalent practical experience.
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, infrastructure, IT deployment, networking, or a comparable technical role.
- Solid practical networking knowledge: IP addressing, subnetting, DNS, switches, PoE and basic firewall concepts. You should be able to work a connectivity problem on site, not just read a network diagram.
- Genuine hands-on hardware experience, setting up, configuring and physically deploying equipment in real environments rather than lab conditions.
- Working knowledge of Python, enough to write, read and debug your own scripts for automating deployment and diagnostic tasks.
- Confident in the terminal: Linux/Unix command line, shell scripting, SSH, reading logs and managing services. You should be comfortable operating a machine with no GUI in front of you.
- Hands-on exposure to at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure), and genuine eagerness to become capable across all three.
